Sometimes called the world’s most solitary hotel, it is located in the municipality of Árneshreppur on the northwest side of Iceland. Here you come by car on winding dirt roads between mountains and fjords. The hotel was initially built as a working residence for the women who worked in the fish factory next door. The factory was closed in the 50s, and in the 80s, the building was renovated and became a hotel. The rooms are rustic and straightforward, and you mainly come here if you want to experience the unspoiled nature and go on hikes. More info: djupavik.is
